Best Side of 50

Best Side of 50 will Eat Out at Sudie's Catfish and Seafood Restaurant  on Wednesday, November 4.  The church bus will leave at 11:00 am.  Come join us for a great time of food and fellowship.
Due to the volunteer groups staying in the church building and using the kitchen facilities we will not be having our monthly Covered Dish luncheon or the Fun and Games Day for the month of November.

Thoughts from the Pastor:

Walking by faith can be pretty scary at times. It's one thing to walk across on dry ground as the Israelites did when crossing the Red Sea. It's quite another to be the first priest to get your feet wet while leading God's people to cross the Jordan River at flood stage. But that's what God asked His people to do as the entered the Promised Land. In Joshua 3, the Bible tells us: So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant went ahead of them. Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water's edge, the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away.... So the people crossed over....

I believe that God is creating an opportunity for us to cross over into the future. For the last six months, First Baptist Church and Family Unity Baptist Church have been meeting together at least once a month to worship the Lord. I believe that He is leading us to consider what steps we need to take for us to become one congregation. Last Sunday night, our church met for a season of prayer as we sought to open our hearts and lives to God and to His will for our congregation. Next Sunday, in our regularly scheduled church conference, we will discuss in some detail what we sense God is doing in and through us. Then the last Sunday this month, we will meet informally with the congregation of Family Unity to outline further steps that we can take together as we seek God's will regarding the future of our two congregations.

These are small steps that we can take forward together. The flood waters still seem to be swirling, and that makes it seem scary to move our feet in order to take the next step. But God has promised that He is with us and that He does not leave us. And He has promised to direct our paths. So, as it is with any journey with God, our first step is to simply trust Him.

Keep Him first in your life!
